Elizabeth Gladys Ohmann, 78, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Betty was born April 19, 1933, in St. Paul, to Harold and Elizabeth Seiberlich. She was the youngest of five children. She attended St. Bernards School and later moved to Milaca. Betty graduated from high school in Milaca.
She married James Milbrandt and had two daughters. They lived in St. Paul Park. After Jim was killed suddenly in 1979 she turned to her music, one of her greatest loves.
She married Henry "Hank" Ohmann on Nov. 19, 1983 and resided in Inver Grove Heights until building their house in Sogn.
Betty's strong faith led her through life. She loved bluegrass music, old country and gospel. She had spent the last several years traveling with Hank, going south every winter. They attended many bluegrass jams and festivals where she met so many great friends whom she held very dear.
She is survived by her husband of almost 28 years, Hank; daughters, Barbara Jones, Cokato, and Brenda Cato, Cannon Falls; stepson, Lee, Cannon Falls; stepdaughters, Deb Ohmann, South St. Paul, Pam (Phil) DuPre, Grey Cloud, Roxanne (Vern) Napper, Welch; grandchildren, William, Caleb and Elijah Cato, Darren, Brittany and Kelsye Jones; several stepgrandchildren; two step great grandchildren; many friends and family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 19, 1 p.m., at Urland Lutheran Church, 6940 Co. 9 Blvd., Cannon Falls. A bluegrass jam will follow the service at church.
