Walter N. Irrthum, 82, of West St. Paul, died Monday, July 3, 2017 at Southview Acres Nursing Facility surrounded by family.
Walter Nicholas Irrthum was born November 3, 1934, in Hampton Township to John P. and Gertrude (Hoffman) Irrthum. He graduated from Randolph High School and went on to serve with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1957.
Walter was united in marriage to Patricia Scheibel and later divorced. Walter was a construction foreman and farmed on the side and eventually made dairy farming his full time career. In his retirement years he enjoyed building bird houses and selling them at craft shows.
He is survived by children John (Linda) Irrthum of Wanamingo, and Gail (James) Donkers of Faribault; grandchildren, Mitchell, Marcus, Abigail, Clint and Riley; brother Paul (Sara); and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doloris and Veronica; brothers, Gerald, John and Raymond.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kenyon on Sunday, July 16, 2017, from 1-4 p.m.
