Gladys A. Stenhaug, 100, Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014 at Twin Rivers Senior Campus, where she has been a resident since 2009.
Gladys was born on September 11, 1913 in Leon Township, the daughter of Martin and Marie (Nyhus) Ohnstad. She was born, raised and lived most of her life in Sogn Valley. She attended country school District #52 at Sogn.
Gladys married Adolph Stenhaug on June 30, 1937 at Urland Lutheran Church, where she was also baptized, confirmed and active her entire life. She was also involved with WELCA and Bible study.
Gladys and Adolph farmed until they owned and operated the Sogn Standard Station from 1942-1982. Following her husband's death, she moved in to Cannon Falls in 1996.
She loved gardening and all types of hand work (quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and tatting.) She also loved to play Bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Goodrich of Plymouth; three grandsons, Douglas (Lisa) Johnson, Darren (Leslie) Johnson, and Monte (Andrea) Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Sydney, Sam, Ryan, Tanner, Brayden, Seth, Noah and Carson; sister, Inez Mills of Northfield; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph on January 10, 1992; sisters, Stella Flom and Mildred Wiberg; and brother, Arnold Ohnstad.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 27 at 2 pm, with visitation from 1-2 p.m., at Urland Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her memory to Urland Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
