James Tracy, age 72 of rural Dennison, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at District One Hospital in Faribault.
James William Tracy was born December 9, 1941 in Northfield, son of William and Agnes (Sorum) Tracy. Jim graduated from Northfield High School in 1959 and was active with FFA and 4-H while growing up. After graduation he served in the Marines spending much time on the USS Hancock. He lived and farmed on the family farm near Dennison all his life.
Jim was an active and lifelong member of the Dennison Lutheran Church, serving as their treasurer at one time and served on the church council. Jim was the first baby baptized in the Dennison Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Dennison Lions Club having served as president and also treasurer for the Charitable Gambling Operation. For many years Jim sponsored the Horse Shoe Tournament during the Dennison Days Celebration and last year he was the Grand Marshal in their parade.
Jim is survived by one aunt, Josie (Sorum) Swenson, and by many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald, aunt Lucile Tracy and several other aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the Dennison Lutheran Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Northfield with Military Honors. Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at the Dennison Lutheran Church and on Friday one hour prior to Services.
