Stanley Jay Gergen, 63, Randolph, died at his home on Thursday evening, May 9, 2013.
Stan was born on June 17, 1949 in Northfield, the son of Lee J. and Florence M. (Eiler) Gergen. He grew up in Randolph and farmed all of his life in the Randolph area. He graduated in 1967 from Randolph High School and went on to work at North Star Steel (Gerdau Steel) in Newport. After 42 years, he retired in January, 2011.
Stan was a volunteer fireman with the Randolph-Hampton Fire Department, retiring after more than 20 years of service. He was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider and enjoyed many, many trips to Sturgis. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He loved bonfires, fireworks, barbecuing for his friends and family, and his John Deere tractors!
He will be sadly missed by his children, Bradley (Jaime) of Lonsdale, and Stacy (Rodney) Braatz of Randolph; seven grandchildren, Bailey Braatz, Olivia Gergen, Brady Braatz, Stella Gergen, Lucy Gergen, Owen Braatz and Jax Gergen; four brothers, Gary (Melinda) of South Carolina, John (Pat) of Dennison, Clinton (Debbie) of Farmington, and Clifford of Randolph; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Florence.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at church on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, and members of the Randolph Hampton Fire Department.
