Robert Lloyd Pelkey, 96, Stanton, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at his home.
Robert, the son of Sava and Nellie (King) Pelkey, was born December 14, 1915 in Hawick. He married Betty Swinton on December 8, 1945 at the Stanton Parsonage.
Robert worked for his father-in-law, Amos Swinton and then was self-employed for many years with his own trucking business, which he later sold. Robert was employed by Northfield Elevator, Hughes Equipment and Dick Green Farming.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean (Swinton) Pelkey; a son, James (Darlene) Pelkey of Cannon Falls; three grandchildren, Keith (Susan) Pelkey of Kenyon, Karen (Mick) Canedy of Northfield, Katie (Jim) Creighton of Randolph; seven great grandchildren, Brent and Ryan Pelkey, Katelyn, Ashley, Emily and Lindsey Canedy, Cody Creighton and another one expected in July; two step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Stan, Ernie, Virgil, Eugene, Allen, Stewart, Florence, Gladys and an infant sister.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Stanton United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Stanton Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be at the Stanton Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
