Rocket boys beat K-W 57-32
by Mike Dalton

The RHS boys basketball team opened up the season with a road win at Kenyon-Wanamingo Thursday. The final score was 57-32.

Randolph used good defensive pressure in the first half to build a 29-16 halftime lead. That defense continued to execute well into the second half.

"We were a little anxious, and missed some easy shots in the first half," commented coach Kent Otte. "Our offense executed much better in the second half. Overall I was pleased with the team's play to start the season."

High scorers were Andrew Wenstrom with 20 and Carsyn Gunderson with 16.

RHS was at Faribault BA Monday night, and lost a close 56-53 contest.

Randolph trailed by as much as seven points in the first half, but battled back and cut the margin to two points at the half. BA built a 14-point lead in the second half, but the Rockets again battled back to come within one point with two seconds remaining in the game.

"Although we came out on the short end, I feel good about the effort our guys gave. We can take away many positives from this game that we can build on as we move forward."

Gunderson led the Rockets with 18 points, and Nick Drinken added 14.

The Rockets were at LeRoy-Ostrander Tuesday. They host Lyle-Pacelli on Tuesday, December 12.
