The CFHS volleyball started the 2014 campaign with a strong win over Glencoe-Silver Lake Saturday at the first annual Side-Out Classic at Hopkins High School.
Cannon won in five games. Scores were 25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 22-25, 15-10.
"Glencoe was a great match-up for us; they are similar in size and I felt they played with the same intensity that we did," coach Melissa Huseth said. "We were able to maintain that intensity needed to win a well-fought match.
"Our team passing was exactly where we needed it to be, and I was very happy with our team blocking; we had a combined total of 34 blocks. I am very happy with their fight to win."
Kill leaders were Katie Noble with 13, Danielle Hansen with 12 and Chase Schaefer with eight. Sami Cromer had 28 digs, Callie Loeschke 16, Hailey Huseth and Caroline Bowen 11 each, and Madison Sesker 10. Huseth had 38 assists, Noble seven blocks, Hansen four blocks, Bowen four service aces and Loeschke two service aces.
The Bombers are at Red Wing on Thursday, and they are at Lourdes on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
