The RHS softball team split their two opening games, defeating conference foe Waterville 10-0 in five innings and losing to Cleveland 5-2.
Randolph had 12 hits in the Waterville game. Ashleigh Dralle, Kelsey Wall, Kelsie Jo Endres, Kristin Rudeen each had two hits, and six of the Rockets' 12 hits were for extra bases.
Carolyn Meyer was the winning pitcher, striking out four and walking one.
The bats fell silent in the game against Cleveland, as the Rockets had only four hits while committing three errors; those errors led to three unearned runs.
Endres took the pitching loss, and Josie Fields collected two hits.
"Night and day difference," coach Mike Silk said. "Against Waterville we were very sharp, but the next day we kicked it around. One game we were focused at the plate, and the next we were swinging at too many pitches out of the strike zone."
A game Monday with Glenville-Emmons was postponed because of the cold weather. On Thursday the Rockets go to Medford, Monday they go to West Lutheran, and on Tuesday, April 27, they go to NRHEG.
