After missing time because of cold weather, the CFHS baseball team had a slew of games last week, winning four of five.
Cannon's first game was Tuesday, April 8 at LaCrescent, where they lost 9-8.
CFHS jumped ahead 4-1, but LaCrescent put together a 7-run 5th inning.
Hunter Blakeslee went the first 4.1 innings, striking out one and giving up three earned runs. Carter Dombeck took the loss; Levi Prestegard also saw pitching action.
Blakeslee was 2-4 with a double and three RBI, Peter Haggerty 1-4 with an RBI, Jon Sharot 2-4 with a double and RBI, Brock Peterson 1-2 with a double and two RBI, Derek Johnson 2-4 with an RBI, and Taylor Carlson 1-4.
The first win of the season came Thursday at Stewartville, 7-2.
Quinton Lindow went six innings, giving up two runs (no earned) while striking out 12. Derek Johnson pitched well in relief. Garrett Beach and Peterson each had two hits, and Bryce Boyle Hoban, Prestegard, Sharot, Carlson and Lindow had one each. Beach had three RBI.
Cannon hosted Kenyon-Wanamingo in a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 4-2 and 9-5.
Dombeck was the winning pitcher in game one. He struck out eight in 6.1 innings. Prestegard got a save with .2 innings of scoreless ball.
Blakeslee was 1-2, Haggerty 1-3 with an RBI, Sharot 1-3, Lindow 1-3 with an RBI, Beach 1-2 with an RBI, and Boyle Hoban 1-3.
A 2-out, bases loaded triple by Haggerty powered the Bombers to four 1st inning runs in game two. Blakeslee added two hits and an RBI, Sharot one hit, Peterson two hits with a double and RBI, and Boyle Hoban three hits with two doubles and an RBI.
Blakeslee started and got the win, striking out five. Prestegard pitched a nice job in relief.
On Monday, Johnson started his first game on the mound and got the win, beating Byron 6-1. Michael Monson got his first varsity pitching experience, tossing in relief.
Blakeslee was 1-3, Haggerty 1-2 with two RBI, Sharot 1-1 with a triple and two RBI, Beach 1-2 with a double, Carlson 1-2 with an RBI, and Boyle Hoban 1-4.
The Bombers are 4-1 overall, and 2-0 in the HVL. They are at Lake City Thursday and host Kasson-Mantorville on Tuesday, April 22.
