The CFHS girls basketball team played well in a road loss to Triton Monday, 63-55.
Cannon fell behind early, and battled back to within four points in the second half. Free throw shooting was the big difference in the loss; Cannon missed 17 from the charity stripe.
Four girls had eight or more points. Maggie Rutter had nine, Tayler Banitt, Courtney Woodcock, and Grace Rutter all had eight. Woodcock had 13 rebounds and the Rutter sisters each had seven rebounds.
Lake City made eight 3-pointers against the Bombers on Tuesday, Feb. 18, and won 63-54.
Banitt had a team-high 10 points, Courtney Woodcock had nine, Grace Rutter eight, Rapp and Maggie Rutter seven, Noble five, and Meyers and Loeschke four. Woodcock had 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals.
The Bombers received the #7 seed in the sub-section, and will play #2 seed Hayfield on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. in Hayfield. The winner faces either #3 Dover-Eyota or #6 Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Monday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Arena. The sub-section final is slated for Saturday, March 8, at 8 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Auditorium.
Other teams in the sub-section are #1 Kenyon-Wanamingo, #4 Lourdes, #5 Pine Island and #8 Triton.
