by Mike Dalton

The CFHS girls basketball team had a couple of rough games last week, against good squads from Zumbrota-Mazeppa and Kenyon-Wanamingo.

The Knights of K-W have 15 wins so far this season, and they showed the Bombers why Friday night. Cannon Falls lost 68-35.

Leah Meyers led the team in scoring with eight points, and senior Maggie Rutter had seven points and nine rebounds. Courtney Woodcock had four points, Anna Rapp three, and Ashly Serres, Callie Loeschke, Hailey Huseth and Grace Rutter had two each. Loeschke had two assists and three steals.

The score was about the same Tuesday against Z-M, with the Bombers losing 63-29.

Maggie Rutter led with eight points, and Woodcock had seven points and five rebounds. Serres added six points, Tayler Banitt three, Rapp and Huseth two each, and Grace Rutter one. She also had three rebounds.

A game Monday night with Glenville-Emmons was canceled. The Bombers hosted Lake City Tuesday, and they are at Triton Thursday, Feb. 20, in the final game of the regular season. Sub-section playoffs start Thursday, Feb. 27.
