The CFHS boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday, Dec. 3, beating Stewartville 82-67.
Stewartville, a class AAA team, had a 3-0 record prior to Tuesday night. They played an aggressive, full-court pressure the entire game, Bomber coach Josh Davisson said, but the Bombers handled it well, committing only 15 turnovers.
Brock Peterson had a "quiet" 36 points, Davisson said, as the guys played great team ball. Alex Bultena chipped in 14, Austin Noble had nine, Zach Stiehl eight, Hunter Johnson six, Jordon Flemmons four, Peter Haggerty and Tanner Carlson two, and Taylor Carlson one. Noble had nine rebounds, and Stiehl had eight. Johnson dished out 10 assists.
Cannon lost to Kasson-Mantorville Friday night, 73-65, with the KoMets hitting free throws down the stretch to ice the win.
K-M is an athletic team, Davisson said, and doesn't start anyone under 6'1". The KoMets took a 13-point lead with about five minutes to go, but Cannon cut it to four with 1:30 to go. They were unable to get any closer.
Peterson had 24 points, Johnson 16 and Bultena 10 to lead CF scorers. Stiehl added seven, Noble six, and Flemmons two. Bultena, Noble and Taylor Carlson each had five rebounds, and Johnson had six assists.
Cannon was at Maranatha Academy on Tuesday. They host Lourdes on Friday and Minnehaha Academy on Saturday before going to Lake City on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
