The CFHS boys basketball team is having a tough time breaking into the win column, after two more losses last week.
Cannon lost to a good Hayfield team on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 44-40. Hayfield went to the state tournament last year, and features one of the better players in the area, Cole Kruger.
Hayfield played excellent defense in the first half, said coach Josh Davisson, holding the Bombers to eight points in the first 15 minutes of play.
CFHS battled back, though, and was able to close the gap to three points late in the game after a 3-point play by Tanner Carlson, a bucket by Austin Noble and a 3-pointer by Brock Peterson. Kruger was able to hit two free throws with four seconds remaining to seal the win.
Peterson led with 13 points, Zach Stiehl had nine, Alex Bultena eight, Noble seven and Carlson three. Stiehl had eight rebounds and Noble had six, and Bultena had three assists.
The Bombers didn't play well on either offense or defense Monday night, in a 58-42 loss at Prescott.
Hunter Johnson led with eight points, Peterson and Noble each had seven, Peter Haggerty six, Bultena five, Stiehl four, Cam Holst three and Jordan Flemmons two. Noble had seven rebounds.
Cannon hosted Stewartville on Tuesday. They are at Kasson-Mantorville Friday and Maranatha Academy on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
