by Mike Dalton

Emi Trost won her third consecutive Section 1A cross country title Thursday, and will advance to this Saturday's state meet, to be held at St. Olaf College.

Trost had a time of 14:44.1, well ahead of second-place finisher Chrissy Lofgren of Stewartville. Trost is the #1 ranked runner in a poll of Minnesota coaches. She will run at 1 p.m.

Katherine Hoffman had the next best place for the Bombers, 14th. Payton Cooper was 36th, Ashleigh Dralle 91st, Emma Thomley 92nd, Jenna Kremers 95th and Annika Thomley 99th. There were 143 total runners. The girls finished 7th as a team.

Bjorn Pearson was the top runner for the boys, placing 40th. Karl Ritzman was 59th, Karl Trost 89th, Riley Eddy 105th, Cole Grosland 124th and Ethan Dalton 132nd. There were 141 runners, and the team finished 16th.

This will be Trost's fifth consecutive appearance in the state tournament. She placed 25th as an 8th grader in 2009, was 10th in 2010, and 2nd in both 2011 and 2012. She lost to Clare Flanagan of the Blake School the past two years, but Flanagan has moved up to class "AA."
