The CFHS tennis team ended the regular season and started the postseason with 6-1 wins.
Cannon beat Stewartville 6-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Winning singles matches were Maddie Adel, Sheyenne Bauer and McKenna Bauer; winning doubles matches were Hannah Boman and Kaesey Glaess, Grace Rutter and Sarah Modrak, and Molly Rolfes and Bethany Nelson.
"I thought we played really well at all positions," coach Paul Norstad said. "We did a nice job of finishing off games at the ends of sets. It was a nice way to close out the regular season."
Cannon beat New Life Academy 6-1 Wednesday to start playoffs. Tayler Banitt, Adel and Sheyenne Bauer won singles matches, and Boman/Glaess, Rutter/Modrak and Rolfes/Nelson won doubles matches.
"I thought we played really well again at every spot," Norstad said. "Doubles teams had little trouble, and we'll need them to play well in sections. New Life singles players are scrappy, which I think was good for us to see; it was more beneficial than having an easy match."
Cannon Falls played #2 seed Waseca Tuesday morning in the semifinals. Individual sections start Friday at the Outdoor Tennis Center in Rochester.
