Cannon Falls cross country runners participated in the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational Saturday, with senior Emi Trost placing 17th out of 460 runners in her division.
Schools from across the country participated in the meet, which featured a Division I collegiate race in the morning and a high school meet in the afternoon.
Trost had a 5K time of 19:00.9. Jordyn Colter of Cherry Creek, CA, was the winner with a time of 17:47.2. Wayzata won the team title.
Others from Cannon Falls who ran were Katherine Hoffman and Rianne Lund.
Bjorn Pearson had the top finish for the boys, in a race that featured nearly 500 runners. Also competing were Karl Ritzman, Karl Trost and Ethan Dalton.
Trost took first place at a meet at New Prague on Tuesday, Sept. 24, turning in a time of 14:50. Hoffman was 14th, Emma Thomley 41st, Jenna Kremers 54th, Lund 60th, Esther Pranke 62nd and Annika Thomley 65th. Payton Cooper was 2nd in the JV race, with Cara Edwards placing 31st and Lisette Boyette 33rd.
Pearson paced the boys at the same meet, and placed 23rd overall. Ritzman was 37th, Karl Trost 55th, Cole Grosland 63rd and Dalton 67th. Cobie Vagts ran in the JV race, and Aaron Trost, Vinnie Davisson and James Watson ran in the junior high race.
Hoffman was the high finisher Thursday at Zumbrota-Mazeppa, with Emi Trost taking the day off to rest up for the Griak. Hoffman was 8th with a time of 16:39. Cooper placed 25th, Emma Thomley 43rd, Kremers 56th, Pranke 59th and Lund 64th. Edwards and Boyette ran in the JV race.
Pearson placed 9th in the boys race with a time of 18:18. Ritzman was 14th, Karl Trost 32nd, Grosland 50th and Dalton 54th. Davisson, Aaron Trost and Watson ran in the junior high race.
The squads are at Pine Island on Thursday, and Plainview on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
