The CFHS volleyball picked up two wins last week, winning both matches in four games.
Thursday night the girls beat Zumbrota-Mazeppa 25-20, 25-8, 22-25, 26-24, and in the process raised $774.79 for breast cancer awareness at its annual "Dig Pink" match.
Becca Vandenheuvel had 19 digs, Caroline Bowen 10 digs, Sami Cromer 10 digs and 10 ace serves, Lydia Franken 19 assists, Hailey Huseth 15 assists and six kills, Carly Broze 12 kills, and Mada Hofstedt and Katie Noble five kills each.
"We improved our blocking with nine ace blocks, and had 60 total digs and 36 kills," coach Melissa Huseth said. "We'd like to thank everybody who donated items and money toward our 'Dig Pink' goal. All money raised will be donated to the local 3-Day Walk team the DuBar Dolls."
The squad traveled to Byron on Tuesday, Sept. 3, winning 25-13, 25-12, 21-25, 25-15.
Huseth had 14 kills and 16 assists, Vandenheuvel 24 digs and two ace serves, Franken 25 assists and four ace serves, Hofstedt seven kills and four blocks, Noble five kills and two blocks, Anna Nelson five kills and two ace serves, Leah Meyers eight kills, and Carly Broze six kills.
"Our setters did a nice job of moving the ball around," coach Huseth said. "We had many hitters who contributed to our offense against Byron.
"We have a couple of tough weeks coming up, and are very excited for the opportunity to play some great competition."
The Bombers hosted Hayfield Tuesday. They are at Kenyon-Wanamingo Thursday, then at a tournament at Jackson County Central on Saturday. They host Kasson-Mantorville on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
