The CFHS Bomber football team made sure the Little Brown Jug would be residing in the Cannon Falls trophy case Friday night, opening up a 33-0 halftime lead and blowing out the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights 40-0.
Senior quarterback Hunter Johnson had an exceptional night, throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for two more. He completed 14 of 17 passes for 165 yards.
Senior Jordan Lundell was his favorite target, catching six passes for 55 yards and a score. Alex Bultena caughts five for 46 yards, Brock Peterson two for 65 yards and a touchdown, Kyler Banks one for 16 yards, and Bailey Mills one for seven yards and a touchdown.
Ryan Castillo was the leading rusher, carrying the ball eight times for 60 yards. Johnson rushed five times for 21 yards and two touchdowns, Lundell two times for 15 yards and a touchdown, and Nick Lorentz six times for 13 yards.
Taylor Carlson, Nate Melhouse, Clay Broze and Jason Hemmah all had four tackles. Carlson had three sacks and an interception, Melhouse a sack, Broze a sack, and Hemmah two sacks. Peterson and Lundell each had interceptions.
"We are very excited about the win," coach Josh Hofstedt said. "The boys came out right away. We were lucky enough to get some second string guys in the game, and they did a great job."
The 1-0 Bombers are home Friday night against Byron, starting at 7 p.m.
