Clutch hitting continues to elude the Cannon Falls Bears baseball team, which dropped two close CCVL league games last week.
Keith Meyers went nine innings Wednesday against the Dundas Dukes, but left without a decision as the Dukes scored a run off reliever Luke Winchell to win in the 10th inning.
Meyers gave up four runs, one earned, and struck out 10. Winchell gave up an earned run.
Winchell and Nate Otte had nice days at the plate, with three hits each. Cory Hedeen had two hits, and Meyers, Brandon Voth, Taylor Pagel and Jamie Stay had one each. Winchell and Hedeen each had doubles.
The Bears managed only four hits Sunday in a 4-2 loss to the Miesville Mudhens.
Andy Otto went seven innings and was saddled with the loss. He gave up three earned runs and struck out six. Winchell went two innings in relief
Nate Otto had two hits, including a double, and Pagel and Josh Harrison had one hit each.
"We've been struggling to get two-out hits, and have been leaving a lot of baserunners in scoring position," Meyers said. "I'm confident we'll get back on track as we get into July."
The Bears host Randolph on Thursday, July 4, at 2 p.m. in the annual holiday match-up. They also host Red Wing on Sunday, July 7, at 2 p.m. before going to Hastings on Wednesday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m.
