The RHS girls basketball team ended its season with a first round loss in the sub-section playoffs to #2 seed Goodhue, 67-43.
Randolph led 7-5 after five minutes of play, and finished the 1st half on an 11-5 run that was diminished by a Goodhue buzzer-beater. "Our opportunity to pull off an upset was spoiled by a 20-1 Goodhue scoring run where we turned the ball over too many times," coach Mike Haase said.
Haase was pleased with how his team prepared for the game. "We had a great week of practice leading up to the game, and our players were excited about playing Goodhue," he said.
Although trailing by 16 at the half, the Rockets scored the first seven points of the 2nd half, and were able to cut the lead to nine. "Just when we'd build momentum and cut their lead, they'd answer with 3-pointers," Haase said. "Still, our players left it all on the court, and that is what you ask of them every game."
Madi Taylor had 11 points, Abby Meyer eight, Jenny Werner seven, Wendy Splicahl six, Breanna Wille four points with eight rebounds, Taylor Bickman three points, and Carolyn Meyer two points and nine rebounds.
Randolph finished the season with an 8-19 record, and will graduate four seniors: Bickman, Jami Kusilek, Wille and Werner. An awards banquet was held Tuesday night, March 19.
