The CFHS girls basketball team had 11 healthy players Thursday night, and they all scored in a 60-25 win over Hope Academy. It was the Bombers' first win of the season.
"It was nice to see the girls win and get some of that pressure off their backs," coach Eric Mace said.
Maggie Rutter had a team-high 14 points, Courtney Woodcock added 11, Erica Berg and Leah Meyers six each, Tayler Banitt, Callie Loeschke, Maddie Adel and Grace Rutter four apiece, Anna Rapp three, and Ashly Serres and Hailey Huseth two. Maggie Rutter, Adel and Berg each had six rebounds, and Woodcock had six blocked shots.
The Bomber squad had perhaps its worst effort of the season Tuesday, Jan. 22, against Zumbrota-Mazeppa, losing 74-26. "We were limited to 24 shots, and Z-M took 72," noted Mace.
Woodcock had eight points, Banitt and Loeschke five each, and Rapp, Maggie Rutter, Meyers and Grace Rutter two apiece. Woodcock had five rebounds.
The girls played OK at Pine Island Friday, taking 52 shots and committing only 15 turnovers, but they shot 17% from the field. "That's not going to win you many games," Mace said.
Meyers had a team-high six points, Grace Rutter five, Banitt and Rapp three, Maggie Rutter and Berg two, and Loeschke one.
The Bombers have only one game this week, at Triton on Friday night.
