The Bomber Dance Team took home yet another HVL Championship trophy when they hosted the HVL Conference meet on Friday evening. Before a packed house, the BDT broke, met-and exceeded- their season goal of 400 points.
"We broke 400 which was our goal for the season," Head Coach Madi Salisbury said. "Last time we did that was in 2011 and it as a week later than what we just did." The team is determined to break their own team high score of 408. "It's totally attainable," Salisbury exclaimed. "We host our Mini Meet on Thursday, so if we are going to do it there's no better place than on our home floor!"
After leveling off a bit score-wise, Salisbury is pleased with the teams' performance and improvement at this point of the season. "Our overall score percentage in kick jumped 3% this week. That's never happened before this late in the season," she said. "We had a couple mistakes, but still beat Lake City by 29 points and they danced flawlessly."
Lake City placed second in Kick, followed by Kasson Mantorville. In the jazz category, Byron took the HVL title with Kasson Mantorville in second place and Zumbrota Mazeppa in third.
The BDT hosts their home Mini Meet on Thursday Jan. 31. Doors open at 6 p.m. and competition begins at 6:30 p.m.. The team heads to Sections on February 9 where they vie for another Section Championship and a trip to Target Center for the State Competition.
