Wrestlers win three at St. Peter

The Cannon Falls/Randolph wrestling team opened the season with a busy St. Peter tournament, where they wrestled five dual matches. The Bombers won three and lost two.

Their three wins were by a lot, a couple, and by one. They beat Waseca 60-18, Sibley East 33-31, and St. Peter 34-33 by tie-breaking rules.

Forfeits were the name of teh game against Waseca. Cannon wrestlers received five.

Paul Fitterer won by pin, as did Connor Rohr, Roman Wundrow, Bo Schuette and Clay Broze.

Against Sibley East, Fitterer won by 13-0 major decision, Ryan Epps by 10-1 major decision, Tyler Wilson by forfeit, Rohr by 13-9 decision, Wundrow by fall, Schuette by 2-0 decision, Derek Johnson by 14-2 major decision, and Broze by 5-0 decision in the final match to grab the win.

The Bombers had the most pins in the match with St. Peter, four. Cannon lost two matches by fall.

Winning by pin were Keston Lopez, Wundrow, Johnson, and Broze. Fitterer won by 5-0 decision, and Epps by 10-7 overtime decision.

Cannon's two losses came to New Prague (45-26) and Chatfield (42-29).

In the New Prague match, Fitterer won by 20-4 technical fall, Epps by 10-4 decision, Wilson by 7-0 decision, Lopez by 9-7 overtime decision, Johnson by pin, and Broze by pin. Against Chatfield, Fitterer won 8-0, Epps 12-3, Lopez 6-4, Wundrow by pin, Jacob Hanka by forfeit, and Broze by fall.

The squad was at a triangularl at Kasson-Mantorville Tuesday. They are at Park Cottage Grove Saturday, and host Triton on Thursday, Dec. 13.
