The RHS volleyball team had two matches last week, splitting them. They beat Lyle-Pacelli in three sets and lost to Waterville in three.
Scores against Lyle were 25-21, 25-22, 25-20. Breanna Wille led the team with 11 assists, Taylor Bickman had five blocks, and Sami Bey had 11 kills.
"This was a game we needed to win, and we did," commented coach Lee Moen. "Lyle is a young team that will be tough in the coming years, but this was a good confidence builder as we head down the home stretch."
The Rockets came out with confidence against a good Waterville team Thursday, but didn't play to the same level they had in previous matches. Scores were 11-25, 18-25, 18-25. Bey led the team in kills with nine and blocks with three, and Wille led in assists with four.
"Waterville played a strong match," Moen said. "Sophomore Bianca Stoesz jumped into the starting lineup for Karly Friedges, who was out with a concussion. Stoesz is a versatile athlete who will be a great asset to the team in the coming years."
Randolph is at Medford Thursday and St. Clair on Saturday, then hosts Dover-Eyota on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
