■ Cannon Falls acquired another "Mrs. Sullivan" on October 12. The former Melanie Strack and our son Tim Sullivan were married in a wonderful ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier. Well done, kids! We had a rehearsal and dinner at the church, and the delicious dinner was outstandingly catered by Trophy House. What a pleasure it was working with them. Hi-Quality Bakery's Julie Disch playfully decorated an awesome cake for the rehearsal dinner and then beautifully decorated a cake and cupcakes for the wedding reception held at McArthur's Supper Club. They served a wonderful reception meal in their delightfully decorated banquet room - outstanding! The wedding now done and the marriage begun, the newlyweds returned to Cannon Falls after enjoying a week in Florida. So many did so much to make their wedding and honeymoon special. Thank you to all from the family's middle Mrs. Sullivan. - Sue S.
■ Reflecting, I remembered praying for the little girls my baby boys would one day marry. My prayer was that they would grow into wonderful young women of integrity and strength of character, and that my boys would have those attributes as well. The years, imperceptible, rolled by as our family moved first from Minneapolis and then to Eagan. The excitement of our move to Cannon Falls to our "perfect homeschool house" gave way to wondering aloud about the wisdom of our move when city-imposed financial clouds hung low. It wasn't long before our now new daughter-in-law entered onto the stage of our family life and a romance blossomed before our eyes. Our prayer answered for one son,we knew then one reason for our move here, and we are ever-so-glad we made it. - Sue S.
■ I felt so pampered in the run up to the wedding in our family. Not only did I get a new dress and accessories, but within the week prior I got a massage, a pedicure, a manicure, and a hair style! Last time I had all that done for me, sans the massage, was before my own wedding more than 26 years ago! Thanks Reflections ladies and Brenda from Acacia. - Sue S.
■ My river monitoring is done for this year. Each week I've had to stick a tube in the Little Cannon River to measure water clarity. Or I should say my granddaughter Emma and I have shared the duty. I'm still on a cane and somewhat wobbly, but the last time I did it myself. The river level is low so I had to get close to the shore and reach out to the water with my tube. Well, I lost my balance and ended up face first in the water! I was able to get up, but my tube floated down the river. I got wet, but I got the measurement! - Dick D.
■ It's that time of year that when you see a big bird soaring around, it's probably an eagle. The fairweather turkey vultures have headed south until spring.-Cal F.
