Ken Kressin, the number of suns in our galaxy is about 10,000, not billions. Our earth platform of observation rotates at 1,000 MPH and the sun we orbit is in galactic orbit, about 40,000 kilometers an hour.
So the problem boils down to are we moving, or is that other galactic guy chasing us or running the other way? Then there's that 73% of stuff that doesn't make light. It just sits out there making gravitation.
Einstein figured out the E=MC2 equivalence of mass and energy, so we got nuclear electric plants and bombs. Then he proved light has mass by the vector change of the path of sunlight by moon's gravitation in eclipse. What that means is there is no escape velocity possible from the gravitation of the total mass of the universe.
Mr. Kressin would be correct to say there are billions of galaxies, each with +- ten thousand suns.
Religion does not explain the universe. What it does do, more or less, is teach how to live in it.

P.S. I have copyright of one paper dealing with such stuff. A second expands Einstein's relativity of time to motion.
P.S.S. Playmates in that sandbox always welcome. (Smile.)
P.S.S.S. Buy mushrooms in Econo, Mr. D. Glad you're back.
