In a quick meeting held at the Cannon Valley Fair on July 1, the Cannon Falls city council approved $19,000 in funding for some local organizations and some other business.
The city budget includes funding for organizations for services they provide for the benefit of Cannon Falls.
Included were the Cannon Falls Chamber of Commerce ($4,500); the Cannon Falls Historical Society ($5,000); the Cannon Valley Fair Board ($5,000); Pet Adoption of Cannon Valley ($1,000); and Shepherd's Center ($3,500).
The amounts had been reduced in recent years due to budget cutting, but some of the amounts were raised this year, including the Pet Adoption amount by $500.
In other business, the council approved language to move forward with road improvement projects by Raw Bistro, First English and Frontier Ag. The Frontier Ag project is expected to be paved yet this month. The project by First English requires a special hearing which is set for August 5. No date is set for First Bistro.
