9/20/2013 11:01:00 AM Work planned on 280th Street culvert
by Ken Haggerty
Cannon Falls Township is hoping to replace a culvert on 280th Street yet this fall.
The work has been under consideration since flooding in June of 2012. The road flooded over at the location of the culvert, about halfway between Hwy. 20 and Michael Avenue, and it was determined to re-do the culvert at that time.
Construction may shut the road down for a day.
The Board of Supervisors approved a raise to $14 per hour for seasonal "second man" work on the road crew at the September 11 meeting. Wage was at $12. Primarily used as a mower operator, the "second man" also does some brush and ditch maintenance work. A raise of the snow plow operator from $15 to $16 an hour was also approved.
New road responsibility
The Township may be asked to take over the currently privately maintained Banks/Brown road in October. Supervisors said it must meet Township standards on width, grades, and rock quality before they take it over.
Motorcycles on County 8
Supervisors requested the Goodhue County Deputy in attendance to look at cracking down on high speed motorcycle traffic on Goodhue County 8, especially on weekends.
Checking balance was reported at $69,037. Savings balance was $135,990. A certificate of deposit for $76,000 expires in October. A CD for $50,000 expires in 2015. A CD for $25,000 expires in 2016.
