The Cannon Falls Veterans Memorial will be formally dedicated on Saturday, August 9 with a ceremony at 3 p.m., cake and coffee served at the VFW following the ceremony, and a street dance on Mill Street between the Cannon River Winery and the Mill Street Tavern from 5 to 9 p.m.
The Veterans Memorial, funded by donations is just about completed, with a few more plaques and pavers still to arrive and be installed. There is still space available if anyone wants to have an individual memorialized.
Bleachers will be set up for the ceremony at the Memorial site on the east side of Hwy. 20 in Riverside Park. There will be space for lawn chairs as well if you bring one.
Shuttle service to the site will be available from parking lots at the VFW, across from the Fire Hall, and the Fairgrounds starting at 2 p.m.
Keynote speaker will be Ann Panteleakos, National VFW Ladies Auxiliary President. State VFW Ladies President and her Officers will be in attendance.
"Ashes for April" will provide music at the street dance. Everyone from the community is invited to all the events at no cost.
