7/18/2014 9:19:00 AM Shepherd's Center to present free concert at the bandshell
Shepherd's Center of the Cannon Valley is proud to present the "Haining Family" from Branson, Missouri, who will perform at the Cannon Falls Band Shell on Saturday, August 2, at 6:30 p.m. The family group is made up of mom, dad and four children who play a unique blend of Gospel, Bluegrass, Old Time, Yodeling, Southern Gospel, and Folk music. They like to call it "Front-Porch, Family Style Music."
The Haining Family was awarded the 2010 Country Gospel Music Association (CGMA) International Band of the Year, 2009 CGMA International Bluegrass Artist of the Year and International Vocal Group of the Year, as well as the numerous awards from the CGMA Central USA Division. Those attending will enjoy hearing the guitars, mandolins, harmonicas, fiddles, even a big bass fiddle to accompany the sweet harmonies.
This concert is absolutely free and open to the public; those attending are asked to bring their own chairs or blanket to sit on.
"We wanted to offer this free, family friendly concert as a way of saying thank you for the support we've received throughout the years," said Shepherd's Center director Rod Johnson. "Without the support of the community, we would not be able to continue the programs and services we offer." Shepherd's Center of the Cannon Valley will celebrate 20 years of service next year.
All ages are welcome to attend the free concert starting at 6:30 p.m. at the John Burch Field Band Shell on August 2. In case of inclement weather, the show will take place at the Cannon Falls High School Auditorium.
