4/25/2014 7:23:00 AM Ed Foundation auction is Saturday
The social event of the year is fast approaching - the Cannon Falls Education Foundation silent and live auctions!
The event this year has moved from Mill Street Tavern to the Cannon Falls Golf Course clubhouse. It will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 5:30-10 p.m. Admission is only $10.
Over 120 items will be on the silent auction, with many items valued at under $50. Bidding starts at 6 p.m. and ends about 7:45 p.m.
Larger items on the "Super Silent" auction include a golf package, deer feeder from Banks Outdoors, a cake a month for a year from CFHS 8th grader Hailey Lindblom, and a letterman's jacket from Cannon Valley Video and Tanning.
Rod Johnson returns as auctioneer for the live auction, which includes over 20 items. The live auction starts at 8 p.m.
Of course, the night wouldn't be complete without a variety of other activities. Among those are the Heads or Tails game, sponsored by First Farmers&Merchants Bank; Lucky 7, sponsored by Community Resource Bank; the annual wine pull, sponsored by the Cannon Falls Fire Department; coal-candy-cash, sponsored by Jay Chytracek and JMC Construction; and the TV giveaway, sponsored by Merchants Bank.
Platinum Passes will again be offered, for $100 each. That pass gives the bearer a chance at an auction spoiler, a ticket for the TV giveaway, a wine pull tickets, and a chance in the Heads or Tails game. Only 52 Platinum Passes will be available.
The Ed Foundation has been in existence for over 20 years, and its endowment fund has grown to over $575,000.
Projects ranging from technology upgrades and software updates, the high school house construction class, the Eagle Bluff trip for 4th graders, and instruments for band students have been funded by the Ed Foundation.
The theme of the Foundation this year is "Our Children, Our Future." The group hopes to highlight the many generations that have gone through the CF school system.
The Foundation is hoping to get more parents involved, especially those with younger children, and invites all to the auction on April 26.
