CF 6th grade Math Masters

The Math Masters of Minnesota competition is designed to promote excellence in thinking skills pertaining to mathematics.

On March 7, fourteen 6th graders from Cannon Falls Middle School competed in Math Masters at the Capitol Hill Magnet School in St Paul. 

They joined a total of 123 students at that site.  Capitol Hill was one of 19 sites for this year's 6th grade competition.

All the students dedicated Friday afternoons for the past two months to practice and represented Cannon Falls very well in the competition, said coaches

For the Fact Drill, Cannon Falls' highest scorer was Elliot Bowman. He finished 20th out of 123 students.

For Individual Word Problems, Cannon Falls' highest scorer was Cameron Langdon, finishing 26th out of 123 students.

  For the five-person team portion, Cannon Falls' best team placed 12th out of 28 teams. Those team members were Kristina Allen, Chris Baszuros, Jason Hanka, Blake Hernke and Ryan Schlichting.

The team was coached by Tim Langdon, Dave Engebretsen and Joe Coyle.

  The 5th grade team will be competing in Rochester on Friday, April 25th.
