3/20/2014 11:21:00 AM Madsen tops Fehling in Warsaw Township
by Ken Haggerty
Larry Madsen defeated Jason Fehling, 78 votes to 34 votes, for the Warship Township Supervisor position on Tuesday, March 11.
The position was up for grabs as incumbent Jon Stordahl did not run after holding the position for 30 years.
Fehling had defeated Nordis Estrem in 2010 to win a supervisor position, but then was defeated in 2013 by Duwain England.
The Warsaw Town Board is made up of three supervisors, one elected annually to a three-year term. Emery Maher holds the other position.
Fehling has been opposed in the past to the Cannon River Winery hosting special events at its Warsaw Township vineyards. The town board also denied a plan to turn a barn and farmsite on County 9 west of Sogn into a rural wedding and reception location.
The Township raised its levy from $180,000 to $200,000 at the annual meeting following the close of polls.
In the only other contested election in area townships, Jeff Partington won Supervisor Seat C on the five-member town board. Partington had 105 votes, Norbert Kuhn had 90 votes and Michael Kiefer had 18 votes. Incumbent Mike Rademacher did not run. Partington was on the Planning Commission. Kiefer and Kuhn are former supervisors.
