The construction of a new overpass, ramps and associated work in the area of Hwy. 52 and Goodhue County Road 9 took a big step forward on Decmber 18 as bids came in from contractors.
The apparent low bid on the project is from Mathiowetz Construction out of Sleepy Eye at $6,715,926. Lunda out of Black River Falls was next bid at $7,612,500. McCrossan out of Maple Grove was at $9.255 million.
Construction is supposed to start in the Spring and be done in November.
The project is a "design-build" project that is expected to accelerate the pace of construction.
A new overpass over Hwy. 52 (and a new Goodhue County 24) just south of Cannon Falls is under construction and is expected to open to traffic by Fall of 2014. Dakota County is also pushing MnDOT hard for an overpass at Hwy. 52 and Dakota County 86 with a target for construction in 2015.
