Seniors Maggie Rutter and Dylan Safe will reign over Cannon Falls High School Homecoming festivities this week, after being crowned queen and king at coronation ceremonies Monday night. Rutter is the daughter of Bob and Jenny Rutter, and Safe is the son of Rahn and Sue Safe.
Members of the Homecoming court were Bryce Boyle-Hoban, who escorted Hannah Boman; Alex Bultena, escorting Lauren Lecy; Ryan Foster, escorting Molly Thomforde; Josh Geiken, escorting Maggie Rutter; Jordan Lundell, escorting Kelsie Beissel; Brock Peterson, escorting Anna Nelson; and Dylan Safe, escorting Krystin Anderson.
Ceremonies were well-attended, and featured three musical selections. Matt Lockett, accompanied by Kathy Illa, sang "Your Song" by Elton John; senior Lauren Lecy sang "93 Million Miles" by Jason Mraz, also accompanied by Illa; and Josh Geiken sang "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac, accompanied by Danny Jorgensen and Carter Shades on guitar.
Fall athletic teams and activities were recognized by their coaches or advisors. The senior class was escorted into the high school auditorium by high school teachers Tony Meyer and John Fogarty. Exchange students Magdelena Heynicke (Germany), Mathijs Staal (Netherlands), and Stanislaus Magnier (France), were also introduced.
Senior class officers are Taylor Carlson, president; Molly Thomforde, vice-president; Kelsie Beissel, secretary; and Brock Peterson, treasurer. The class motto is "With every ending, there is a brand new beginning," class colors are red, black and silver, the class flower is the white rose, and the class song is "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons. Class advisors are Kirsten Hoffman and Deb Klegin.
