6/27/2013 2:15:00 PM Cannon Valley Fair set for July 2-6 run
A car and pickup demolition derby, truck and tractor pull, an autocross, and popular band Brat Pack Radio highlight events at the 98th annual Cannon Valley Fair in Cannon Falls July 2 through July 6.
The ever-popular demolition derby is set for Wednesday night, July 3, at 7 p.m. Heats will include full-size old iron; mid-size FWD; compact FWD; pickups; 80s and newer; and mini-vans. Entries are still being taken.
Harness racing will be held at the grandstand on Thursday, July 4, at 2 p.m.
An NTPA truck and tractor pull is slated for Friday, July 5, at the grandstand starting at 7 p.m.
The final evening of the fair, Saturday, July 6, will feature two main events. An autocross featuring compact cars, full-size cars, compact trucks, full-size trucks and side-by-side UTV will be held at 6 p.m. in front of the grandstand. The Brat Pack Radio Supershow will kick off at 9:30 p.m.
Crescent City Amusements will be open on the midway on Tuesday, July 2, at 6 p.m. Wristband days for unlimited rides will be from 1-5 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, and 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 6.
A large parade is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on July 4 in downtown Cannon Falls. Exhibits will be on display throughout the fair in exhibit buildings, and a fireworks display will be held at dusk on July 4.
Entry day for livestock and open class exhibits is Tuesday, July 2. Open class entries will be taken from noon-8 p.m., and livestock entries will start at 9 a.m.
Many free events are offered at the Cannon Valley Fair. A 4-H, FFA and WSCA youth open horse show will be held Saturday, June 29, at 8 a.m. The FFA kiddie barnyard will be open daily. Other free events include:

Friday, July 5 - Cock-A-Doodle Zoo, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; photography workshop, noon-2 p.m.; spinning workshop, 1-5 p.m.; Ms Jazee the Clown, 2-4 p.m.; and Dave Carpenter Band, 4-7 p.m.
Saturday, July 6 - Cock-A-Doodle Zoo, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; photography workshop, noon-2 p.m.; Half-Pint magic show, 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.; minnow races, 1-4 p.m.; and Ms Jazee the Clown, 2-4 p.m.
