Shepherd's Center of the Cannon Valley will feature Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder in concert on Friday, April 19 at the Cannon Falls High School Auditorium. This is Shepherd Center's major fundraising event of the year and all proceeds will benefit the center.
Ricky Skaggs is a 14-time Grammy Award winner, 8-time Country Music Association winner, was the youngest member ever to be inducted to the Grand Ol' Opry, was recently inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and has had 12 number hits on the country charts. Ricky and his ace backing band, Kentucky Thunder, have won 8 Instrumental Group of the Year awards from the IBMA.
"We are thrilled to bring this type of talent to our home town," said Shepherd's Center director Rod Johnson. "I think it's important, not only to Shepherd's Center, but to the community of Cannon Falls. The auditorium is such a great venue and if we can fill it with an enthusiastic crowd, these artists will notice and that will make it easier to bring additional, world renowned talent to Cannon Falls."
This was a huge undertaking for Shepherd's Center and they were assisted by some major sponsors, including Freeberg Insurance, First Farmers&Merchants Bank, the Lions Club, Vasa-Spring Garden Mutual Insurance, and Merchants Bank.
Tickets are $35 and available at Scofield Drug, Shepherd's Center, the Cannon Falls Chamber office and online at www.rickyskaggs.eventbrite.com. The Cannon Falls Auditorium has a seating capacity of 600 and tickets are general admission. The doors will open at six p.m. with the show starting at seven p.m. For more information, contact Shepherd's Center at 507-263-2136.
