3/29/2013 10:22:00 AM Ricky Skaggs to play Cannon Falls
Shepherd's Center of the Cannon Valley is bringing in 14-time Grammy Award Winner Ricky Skaggs and his band, Kentucky Thunder for their annual fundraising concert on Friday, April 19. The show will take place at the Cannon Falls High School Auditorium starting at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.
Ricky Skaggs has had 12 number one hits and was named the CMA Entertainer of the Year and also Male Vocalist of the Year. Ricky Skaggs has often said that he is "just trying to make a living" playing the music he loves. But it's clear that his passion for it puts him in the position to bring his lively, distinctively American form of music out of isolation and into the ears and hearts of audiences across the country and around the world. Ricky Skaggs is always forging ahead with cross-cultural, genre-bending musical ideas and inspirations. In 1982, Ricky Skaggs became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, the youngest to ever be inducted at that time.
Shepherd's Center is thankful for the major sponsors assisting in bringing this show to Cannon Falls. They include Freeberg Insurance, Merchants Banks, the Cannon Falls Lions Club, First Farmers&Merchants Bank along with Vasa-Spring Garden Mutual Insurance.
Tickets are $35 each and are on sale now at Shepherd's Center, Scofield Drug and the Cannon Falls Chamber Office. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.rickyskaggs.eventbrite.com. The auditorium has a seating capacity of 600 and it is likely this show will be a sell-out, so the public is urged to purchase tickets in advance.
"We are very excited to have this world renowned show coming to Cannon Falls," said Shepherd's Center Director, Rod Johnson. "The state-of-the-art auditorium is a perfect, intimate venue to showcase this talent and tickets are selling fast." All proceeds from the show will help support Shepherd's Center, a non-profit organization promoting lifelong community involvement for senior adults.
