Since we are almost at mid- December, it's time to get serious about your holiday shopping if you haven't already done so.
Shopping in Cannon Falls stores saves time and reduces holiday stress levels for those who decide to "shop local" this holiday season.
Local stores are well-stocked with holiday gift ideas, many offer free gift wrapping and parking is free and, if you're lucky, right outside the door of the business you plan to visit. Many shoppers are rediscovering the convenience and friendly atmosphere to be enjoyed when they shop local.
Cannon Valley Specialties, on the corner of 4th and Mill St., has a great selection of Bombers and Rockets gear for high schoolers and fans. School logos are prominently displayed on items ranging from cozy blankets to baseball caps. Stocking stuffers available include gift certificates for videos or tanning sessions.
What in Yarnation, located on the west side of 4th Street, has yarn and supplies for all knitters and crocheters on your list. There are beautiful kits, shawl pins, bags and gadgets.Give someone who would like to learn how to craft items from yarn a gift certificate for an upcoming class.
Hjermstad Hardware, has Toyland in the balcony. They are also a dealer of Watkins products, with spices and extracts for all your holiday baking. Chicago Ed's, on the east side of 4th Street has a beautiful selection of colored stone rings, watches and necklaces. 4th and Main Fabrics, on the corner by the stoplight, is in the midst of their annual year-end sale. Anything Goes, located next to the Cannon Falls post office, across from EconoFoods, has a wide variety of great gifts in stock. From jewelry to stuffed animals and Tiffany-style lamps, there is literally something for everyone on your list. The shop will be open until 7 p.m. the next two Thursday evenings, and also be open on Sunday afternoons before Christmas.
Interstate Building Supply, south of downtown on 4th Street has many power tools for the handy person on your list. Or, a gift certificate for that person would be a welcomed gift.
Rapp's Short Stop has lots of stocking stuffer items, or anyone who has a car and drives would make good use of a gas gift card. UPS picks up packages for shipping at Rapp's, so that could simplify your gift delivery.

Medical scrubs by Dickies are practical gifts for those who wear them on a daily basis.
Family Dollar, located in the Cannon Mall, is a variety store that stocks holiday decorating needs, clothing and shoes for the entire family, plus food, health and beauty items, household supplies and toys. They have extended hours through Christmas.
Thora Mae's Timeless Treasurers is great place to shop for antique lovers and collectors alike. Individual vendors have shelves stocked with a variety of gift ideas. Thora Mae's is located in the Cannon Mall.
Cannon Valley Outlet, at the south end of the Cannon Mall, features lots of gift ideas for the outdoor-loving folks on your list. From ice fishing houses to hand warmers, CVO has it at discounted prices. Appliances are also in stock, as well as outdoor art prints. Merchandise changes daily at CVO, so stop in often.
Traveling south on 4th Street, brings shoppers to SuperAmerica. Gift cards for gas and food make super stocking stuffers.
Pat LeVesque, located just south of SuperAmerica, features clothing and accessories for contemporary women. Jewelry, leather slippers, scarves, unique pottery pieces, flameless candles, silk and wool mittens, and carefully selected books are just a few of the awesome gifts you will discover at Pat LeVesque. This store is open 7 days a week, weeknight evenings until 7 p.m.
CF Stamps caters to the crafter who enjoys card-making and scrapbooking. The latest tools, papers, inks and other supplies are available, along with regularly scheduled classes on keep stampers up to date on what's new in the art form.
Just south is Country Side Antique Mall. More than 50 vendors come together to offer a huge variety of general antiques and collectibles.
Crossing Hwy. 52, turn south on the service road and shop for the car enthusiast on your list at Pro Truck. Custom running boards for pickup trucks, wheel covers that add a designer touch, floor mats and toolboxes would be great gift ideas for that truck lover on your list.
Heading north on the service road, you will come to Banks Outdoors. Their custom designed tree stands would be great for a deer hunter on your list.
