Kicking off "small business Saturday" and the beginning of the Christmas season in Cannon Falls, the annual parade "went very well," said Chamber President Pat Anderson.
Leading the parade was the VFW/American Legion Color guard. New entries this year were Cannon Falls PTO, Soulfisher Collision, First Farmers&Merchants & White Rock Bank, Family Salon Curling Team, and First English Lutheran Church.
They joined the Chamber's three standards, Nutcrackers, Polar Express, and Santa and his Reindeer. In-Motion danced, and EMTs walked beside the Ambulance, and Fire Truck. Cannon Falls Police, Invenergy, and Nelson Insurance floats traversed while Father Christmas and his Elves strode merrily along the parade route.
Since moving the Deck the Falls event to coincide with Small Business Saturday, the timing is better for businesses as it adds momentum to the shopping experience.
This is the second year the gazebo has been used for the drawing after the tree was lit. Winners of the Chamber Dollars drawing were Chuck Hoffman-$25, Aaron Deutsch-$25, Stacy Deutsch-$25, Hannah Walker, $25, Brody Banitt-$50, Jacob Wulf-$50, Becky Youngmark-$100, Kathy Tilderquist-$100, and Sacha Rogers-$200.
